Not from the evidence so far, trying to rehabilitate psychopaths seems to only make them into more effective psychopaths (meaning it teaches them more tools to manipulate people with in one rehabilitation experiment that Ronson discusses more of the treated psychopaths go on to reoffend than those left untreated ). The most effective psychopaths don't end up in jail because they either find sanctioned/celebrated ways to express their psychopathy or are clever enough regarding external rules to work around them. And, of course, there's the bigger social issue that we don't actually have any consistent external rules that make psychopathy a negative thing with negative consequences. In fact, we quite often reward it (with million dollar bonuses, for instance). Jon Ronson does discuss the prevalence of psychopathy amongst high level corporate executives, as well as there being no effective treatment. The other thing is that one could easily argue that a lot of people who end up in prison suffer from some form of impulse control problem but not all of them are psychopaths. What makes a psychopath different is that he feels no remorse for having hurt others and, if he or she is a sadist, they'll also take pleasure in hurting and manipulating others. This is why in both psychiatry and the judicial/prison systems that genuine remorse is seen as a sign that someone recognizes the damage that their actions caused and is now suffering themselves (they feel empathy for the victim, not just sorry for themselves) and won't repeat the behaviour again. Psychopaths can and often do fake remorse and it's not that they're unaware of the external rules, they just don't think they apply to them (for instance, the psychopath that Jonson befriends in Broadmoore is only in the psychiatric unit because he was trying to circumvent the rules by pretending to be crazy as a means to avoid the consequences of his actions and because he thought he could outsmart the system it backfired but he's still actually playing the same game where he positions himself as a victim of the actions of others instead of taking responsibility for his actions .once again, he shows no remorse just self pity and a desire to make others feel sorry for him).There's a pretty good British documentary out there called I, Psychopath that focuses on Sam Vaknin, a self proclaimed psychopath and Narcissist (and self proclaimed expert on NPD) in the ultimate narcissistic twist he manages to make narcissism both lucrative and also affirm his belief in his own superiority BECAUSE of his NPD. cat After reading this I am left woidrenng whether it is possible to rehabilitate a psychopath – convince them that there are internal/ external rules they should follow to govern their aggression? Yesterday I attended a sound workshop focussed on vocal expression. Whilst at the workshop I became aware of the Black Diamond and i saw it spinning around the room past each participant gathering up into its body any negative vibrational energies present or being expressed during the vocal toning. I also became aware of soreness in my own throat during the singing. Focussing in this area I saw an energetic ulceration present there. I allowed the Black Diamond to spin in front of me and I could see it drawing out this old energetic scarring. After doing this healing on myself and the room I very clearly received a message saying that there needed to be a 'merging of the Black and White Diamond' and I saw an image of the Black Diamond below and the White Diamond above. The bottom of the White Diamond overlapped the top of the Black Diamond as in the 'Jewel of the Heart' diamond light code http://www.diamondlightworld.com/dlcodes.html. I realised that these two diamonds were here to work in partnership. The white diamond helping to bring in the new Universal energies to the Earth. And the Black Diamond soaking up the heavier frequencies that will no longer be able to be held within the Earth. The Black Diamond is a powerful gift the Earth. It is able to hold ALL the collective evolutionary suffering and pain in a place of deep respect and honouring for all it has taught us. It allows us to release both our individual and collective 's**t' and move towards a new energetic way of being in a completely safe and balanced way - in universal alignment.
